Blast from the not so distant past

Here are two of the first dresses I ever made, I drafted the patterns from scratch. Looking back they are not greatly made but for my first attempts I was pretty pleased. I now know more about garment construction ect so if I were to redo these I have more knowledge on how to create a more successful garment.

What Brand? Ms. soon to be Mrs Brand

Ok so I have a bit of a style crush on Katy Perry, I love how she is so open to wear anything she feels like! (it helps she has the body to wear anything she likes also) She is an inspiration to me and she is so comfortable in herself she makes me want to be comfortable in myself. Yes, like everyone she has made some fashion blunders but on the whole I think her style is so unique, diverse and individual and completely unexpected it just works and keeps you on your toes.
Katy Perry I commend your addition to the celeb fashion world!

Bank Holiday Monday tasks

I was in the shop by myself bank holiday Monday (3rd May) so I was challenged to do a few displays, I decided to photograph them so that I can document them for future reference ect. So yes I have done displays of vintage bags and shoes to go with the clothing around the shop. I hope I did a good job at keeping with colour schemes and creating a link between the accessories and clothing!

Dress up with the sister

Here is my wonderful sister modeling some fabulous Me & Yu, Belle came into the shop while Angie and I were having a bit of a quiet day so I decided to play dress up with her and snapped some of the styling. We have vintage pieces mixed with hand made goodies. I had loads of fun bossing my sis around telling her to try this with this ect. She ended up buying the blue dress which is made from vintage 50's fabric and is only one of two! I'm jealous and I want it!!!

Coco Rocha: Coe-coe Roe-sha

I've been rubbish at posting recently and for that I'm sorry. I will try harder!
So while I was looking round on the internet I ended up on elleuk.com, my fashion lifeline and I manadged to come accross this little gem: http://www.elleuk.com/fashion/fashion-phonetics
See if you are like me and can not for the life of you pronounce some designers names this breaks it up phonetically so that you can see how it is really spelt and then how it should sound, it's genious! so yes I now think I shall be memorising as many of these as possible!

Now all I need to do is save up for these bad boys ;)

Shopping + Karma = A prom dress for Poppy

SOOOO here is my prom dress, I went shopping today and decided to go and have a look at prom dresses and now not knowing what style I wanted or what colour or basically having any clue of what I was looking for I ventured into topshop, I started having a look round and nothing was really jumping out at me, BUT then I saw this LBD and fell in love, so I grabbed the last one in my size went to try it on and I swear I fell in love! It shows off all my curves while also highlighting that I have lost weight. I love the runched detail and I will pair it with a little black cardigan and some black lacey tights. Now I have to go and find some shoes, I have no idea what colour (knowing me though I will probably go for black!)

Rrrrriiiiiippppppp

I love lacy tights and lacy leggings, but seriously WHY DO YOU HAVE TO RIP?
I got some lacy stirrup tights from topshop I have worn both pairs once and they BOTH have holes in, I am far from impressed.
I also got some leggings from house of fraser, the front half of them are normal black leggings then the back of them are lace, I love them. (I wore them on my date on friday)
I find lacey leggings/tights make my legs look thinner, I'm sure they shouldn't but they do I swear!
So I will be spending part of today sewing my tights and hoping I can save them!

So here is a picture of me in my uniform for the day, I have my Me & Yu 'Cosmic Kittens of Karma' T-Dress (which I tied up woth a bobble, classy!) paired with beige topshop stirrup lace leggings and a H&M bodycon skirt which i got for £2.99! Bargain or what?!
I am currently listening to new young pony club and it is making me want to dance, hmm maybe a bit later. Working here is making me spend all my money there are so many things I want!
I have my eye on a pair of shorts but I still need to try them on but they are beyond cute!
See what I mean?
Anyway it's back to work for me.

Wait, what? Poppy is blogging?!?!?

So yes, I decided to start a blog. I'd been thinking about it for a while but I just needed that push to actually get it done. Thankfully Angie from Me & Yu gave me the push I needed (teasing me with the prospect of additional marks for my textiles coursework).
I am the saturday girl for Me & Yu and can I say what an experience it is, I love it. I get such an insight on how it is to run a small fashion business and I am forever getting style tips by just observing others. I love the experience I am gaining and think it is so much better than working in a high street store, (don't get me wrong I would work in one, but it is much more fun here!) The atmosphere in Afflecks is unique and I have already made quite a few freinds. Angie and Gorden (a boyfriend/girlfriend team) are great to work for and are extremely supportive and willing to help me as a decide what I want to do with my life.
Angie has saved my textiles coursework, helping me to improve it and what can get me extra marks (as stated before she told me to start my own fashion blog). So as I get better at this blogging thing, I will start posting some of my own designs, my art work, parts of my sketchbook and things I find interesting ect. So here I go, my adventure into the world of blogging (wish me luck!).
